Dear Expectant Parent(s):

We can not begin to understand what you are going through.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know us better through our blog.  We are an open book and would love to answer any questions you have.  Please feel free to ask :)

Adoption is very dear to our hearts.  While on a service mission in Virginia, I worked with a 17 year old girl, named Dayana, who wanted to place her child for adoption.  I felt inspired to tell her about my best friend who was hoping to adopt. After weeks of prayer, Dayana decided my best friend was supposed to be her daughter's mother.  It was a very humbling experience for me. But it was also one of the hardest things I have ever watched someone I love go through! Dayana loved her daughter, but she sacrificed her desires, to put her daughter's needs first.  It was the purest love I have ever seen and the greatest sacrifice I have ever known. It changed my heart forever! And ever since, I have always wanted to adopt. Dayana is still one of my best friends today, who still inspires me every day.  She just graduated from college this year, and got married to her best friend. She is amazing!

I told Dave when we were dating, "I have always wanted to adopt. How do you feel about that?"  He agreed that it would be amazing! And so I married him! Well, that was one of the reasons. We have struggled with infertility for over 2 years now, and it has been hard!  I have PCOS, and they are unsure if I will ever be able to have more children. So we prayed about it and we've felt it is time to adopt. We do not feel like it is a coincidence that we are adopting at this time.  We sincerely feel like this is how it was meant to happen all along.

We are very open to an open adoption.  We'd love to send emails, texts, videos, and picture-updates, and visits, where possible.  We would love to have "a Dayana" in our lives! But we also understand that your openness may vary, and we respect that.  We want you to feel comfortable and we will work with your needs. Understand that no matter what your preference of openness, we will always speak of you, and your family, with the love and respect you deserve, and about the sacrifices you've made.  We hope we get to talk with you and get to know you better!

Love,
The Nelsons
